Hey everyone, quick question, I have a p-10f I bought new a couple years ago. I had in the past week 2 separate failure to fires with factory 115 gr FMJ. Both times the round was wedged in the chamber so tight I had to grab slide and slap the frame hard to free the live round. Tonight I did the “plunk test” again with factory 115 gr FMJ, when I put even a little pressure on the round, it won’t freely fall out of the chamber. I’m calling CZ Monday just wondering if anyone else had this issue with CZ. Also my barrel chamber is very clean. Thanks!

Every CZ I've ever owned has had a very tight chamber and short throat. It's just how they are. When you're reloading for them you have to use bullets with a narrow ogive or make sure you're seating them deep enough that they don't get stuck in the lands (plus enough margin to account for variations in ogive)...which is typically a lot deeper than you need to with other guns. I always use my son's CZ75 barrel as a gauge when I'm setting up a new load because I know if it'll pass the plunk test in that one it'll work in all of my others.

I'd try it with different ammo and see if the problem persists. Chances are it's in spec and you have some goofy ammo that's at the upper end of the OAL. And that ammo will probably still work fine in every other gun than you own. CZ just has to be different.

Thanks for the reply and good info. I think I’m mostly concerned because it’s factory 115 gr FMJ and not reloads, I’m hoping the barrel is out of spec it’s such a great shooter and I’m hoping to use as my new truck gun.

You're on the right track with the plunk test. Drop a few more different rounds in there and see how they do. You should hear them plunk, and also be able to spin them freely in the chamber without feeling them bind against the lands. Maybe even try a few more from the batch you were having trouble with...could be it's poor consistency of the ammo and some will plunk and others will bind.

Appreciate the info! I’ll do that today, if it happens with other factory rounds I’m uncertain if CZ can do anything other than replacing it. Looked at aftermarket barrels and they are more than 1/2 what I paid for the pistol

You can use a reamer to lengthen the "throat" and a do a chamber polish as well. My guess is a little throat reaming and it will be fine. I've done the the throat reaming to my Czechmate barrels and a couple Shadow 2s.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I’m a little embarrassed but I ended up ordering a primary arms threaded aftermarket barrel. I’m going to look at my first suppressor soon and didn’t want to worry about the CZ chamber length esp if I’ll be using 147 gr ammo. Thanks for everyone’s feedback!

I wouldn't be embarrassed. I bought my own throat reamer and the 3 nitrided barrels wore it out so I only got 4 barrels out of a reamer. Clymer doesn't resharpen them, so the only choice is to buy another. You can always get the old barrel throated at your leisure or sell it.

The primary machine threaded barrel did great today! One ragged hole at 8 yards highly recommend for anyone looking for a threaded aftermarket barrel!
