Thank you. Certainly not what I expected from the 10th Circuit, but now it will be interesting to see what Colorado does (we have a three-day wait). The waiting period is one of the things that was blamed for the demise of our small town gun show because exhibiting dealers all come from elsewhere. Buy a gun here, but have to go to another part of the state three days later to pick it up—?
And I think this is significant because as I understand it, this refers to something that the Supreme Court established as a criterion for whether a law was justified. I would think that the “modern invention” issue would apply to things like magazine capacity limits which is something else we’re harassed with in Colorado. “Next, the court concluded that waiting periods are a modern invention that are unsupported by our nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”
We can only hope.

Yay! I don’t have to wait, since I have a carry permit, but it is still a ridiculous law. They’ll dig in their heels on this, so we’ll have to wait and see how far it goes.
