At the dinner table, Frank made a reference to Travis McGee and John D. MacDonald.

My favorite John D. MacDonald detective story is “The Only Girl in the Game”, which isn’t a Travis McGee story. It’s set principally in Las Vegas. It would make a great movie.

I also like “The Houseguests”. Nominally a book about MacDonald’s two cats, but a lot of autobiographical info, too. It’s the only book about cats that any self-respecting male would have in his house.
