The first Jack Ryan scene in Ep. 1 rewrites the bad guy Venezuelan leader Reyes as a "Nationalist swept into office in a wave to power", not a marxist/socialist Chavez/Maduro. The good guy, actually a woman, is referred to as an "activist academic". Saw the same thing in season 1.

Chavez and Maduro were/are both socialists and nationalists. No contradiction there.
No, they avoid the whole reason Venezuela is a shit hole - socialism & dictatorship.

Having national pride isn't a bad thing until its coupled with dictatorship & socialism - Nazis are a good example of this that you are probably familiar with, even though they went to extreme lengths to keep the socialist stuff under wraps.

Ditto. Just finished and was seriously underwhelmed.

Yep. By the last couple of episodes, it was getting absolutely ridiculous. I know one has to suspend disbelief and allow for some artistic license, but there still needs to be some connection to reality.

The first season I thought was very good. The second season started off like a good remake of Clear and Present Danger but then devolved into unrealistic and eye rolling stupidity on many levels. But, it was still better than a lot of TV, I'll just wait next time before jumping into it with both feet.

The designer of the gun had clearly not been instructed to beat about the bush. 'Make it evil,' he'd been told. 'Make it totally clear that this gun has a right end and a wrong end. Make it totally clear to anyone standing at the wrong end that things are going badly for them. If that means sticking all sort of spikes and prongs and blackened bits all over it then so be it. This is not a gun for hanging over the fireplace or sticking in the umbrella stand, it is a gun for going out and making people miserable with.'

Just finished watching it last night. I'll never believe that Josh Krasinski was the right casting choice for the Jack Ryan role, but I thought the series was entertaining and mostly well done.

Wife and I finished it last night.

Both agree that it stretches beyond our ability to suspend our disbelief. There is just so many “oh give me a fucking break” moments

Still entertaining enough we will watch season 3 when Jack Ryan single handedly invades and conquers all the moons of Jupiter

Just finished Season 2 and found it to be as lousy as Season 1. It's amazing how cheesy they manage to make it considering the source material. I can't decide which is worse: this version of the Jack Ryan universe or the God-awful Mitch Rapp that came out a couple of years ago.

Finished it but with disappointed feeling in the quality of the show. Actor performance was average, but plot execution badly flawed.

My wife and I are on episode three of the second season. We're entertained. Yeah, there are "issues." E.g.: Military hand-held radios that can't take a dunking? Right. So, yeah: It has flaws. *shrug*

After "24", anything goes in shows of that sort.

I'm only on E4. What really bothered me was a dude taking a 3 1/2" blade through the eye socket like a champ and still functioning.

That could be survivable (depending on brain damage) but he wouldn't be very "functional" in the moments after.

I liked it a lot but I absolutely wasn't watching it with a critical eye.

I saw Air Force One in the theater and paid money for it (on a date even) and Jack Ryan was better than that. God help me if I ever encounter something worse than that.

I didn't have a problem with the whole radios dying thing - lowest bidder made it after all.

Actually the stupidest part of it. They'd have a Sat phone or 3 and some backups.

Movie with wossname... Harrison Ford as POTUS. Air Force One is hijacked by "radicals" and POTUS is, of course, a military veteran and fights to save the hostages.

(I actually had to look that up, it was so forgettable.)

Not very good. Too many neat and tidy moments. Just one example - Car won't start, takes some .50 fire, then it starts... car should have been obliterated along with occupants.
