I was born and raised in Seattle but moved away about 40 years ago. The second week of March I stayed downtown near the convention center at a very nice hotel.

At the hotel I had virtue-filled showers by using the hotel supplied Pharmacopia Natural Body Care shampoo that the label assured me was Cruelty-Free and Vegan. While there were no straws in sight at the walk up food counter, everthing else was securely packaged and served in disposable plastic comtainers.

Stepping outside in the evening or early morning I saw homeless people all over the place; and a city that used to be clean is now a dump.

This is what a people get when closed-minded and self-serving emotionalism is the currency through which public policy decisions are made with an unstated outcome, on the part of the SJW crowd, of feeling good rather than doing good.

So what it boils down to is indivual rights vs good of the community. The cities are allowing the individual the right to decide how they want to live. Abuse drugs, live in a tent or a cardboard box, shit on the street, commit crimes. At the detriment of the community.

Problem 1
What do we do with the severely mentally ill the ones that can’t take care of themselves?

We no longer have facilities for the mentally ill. The government instead of caring for and housing the mentally ill decided to throw them out into the community to fend for themselves. What did they think was going to happen? The facilities were not kept up like they should have, so instead they closed them. What is the solution, what is the humane way of dealing with the problem?
Housing them and trying to care for a them in a central location or allowing them to fend for themselves? Granted there is a wide band of mental illness. Most can take care of themselves, but there are those out there who can’t.

Problem 2
Detox facilities are far and few between now. Family members trying to get help for their substance abusing relative in the past could have called the police and have them put into detox on a 72 hr hold to have them evaluated and safely detoxed. This is no longer the case. Only voluntary detox happens now and that is rare. How often can you get someone high on drugs, or an alcoholic to place themselves into detox. So what happens there are few choices out there for those close to the addicted individual.

So individual rights are placed higher then the community rights.

We were in Seattle almost 2 years ago for 2 days and managed to avoid most of this. We stuck to the big tourist attractions like the Fish Market, Space Needle, and Safeco Field. That tells me there is some policing that goes on, but it is selective. That tells me the politicians know there’s a big problem but choose to target the areas that allow them to hide it from the outside world.

KOMO News Special: Seattle is Dying

This show, that we've been working on for several months now, is really the third in a kind of trilogy.

The first was called "There But For the Grace of God..." It explored homelessness from the inside out in 2016.

The second was called, "Demon at the Door." It was about the hellish existence of heroin addiction.

This one is about everyone else. It's about citizens who don't feel safe taking their families into downtown Seattle. It's about parents who won't take their children into the public parks they pay for. It's about filth and degradation all around us. And theft and crime. It's about people who don't feel protected anymore, who don't feel like their voices are being heard.

Mostly, I want it to be a reminder that this is not normal. This is not the way it has to be. This is not right.

You can watch the special on KOMO 4 when it re-airs Saturday March 23 at 10 p.m. (20/20 will air at 1:05 a.m. instead) and Sunday, March 31 at 3 p.m.

I'm just wondering about how Seattle residents feel about having this hour-long unadulterated truth shoved into their faces. How are they dealing with undeniable evidence, and lots of it?

I want to hear the excuses being made by leftists.

Residents all know of the problem, it’s the elite and elected regressives that ignore it. Best theory is that it’s all to funnel funds for fixing the problem to crony’s. An alternative idea is that it is a targeted effort to destroy a city, in order to install Marxism/socialism. Lots of people are saying that they are either going to leave the city, or intend to take care of their problems themselves. One of the problems we have is mass importation of third worlders who are lock-step to the leftests. In the video the Seattle councilcunt who is openly socialist is Indian. Another example is the proposed government ran heroin dens are being funded by Soros. All said it’s a real damn shame. Seattle used to be real middle of the road, with liberal hotspots. I’m trying to get out myself. All the good fishing we have can’t outweigh the insanity anymore. Reading the Youtube comments give you a good breakdown of public opinions on it. The vast majority know the cause, with a few die hards hiding their heads in the sand.

Back in the day, there was one bad neighborhood in Tacoma near 99. But that place looks upscale now compared to much of Seattle now.

Denver needs to pay attention. We have quickly gone downhill in some areas. I really have no interest in even going into downtown any more. And while it's not Oakland, it's not good. I'm walking distance to light rail and can literally be at a stadium in just over 25 mins on the train...but Denver's policies have keep me in the burbs spending my money. A couple of years ago we stayed at a top-end hotel in Denver for two nights as a company retreat deal. Homeless everywhere and mental-ill harassing people walking down the streets. Sadly it continues to grow south towards us. Despite not being against legal MJ, I'm so thankful my community doesn't allow recreational MJ sales. We are walking distance to a river, open-space and such, and that would attract even more transients. Neighbors have caught people living in sheds and crime is up...though it's hard to get people to accept that. You have half our community who uses their brains, and the other half sits on them.

Democrats. If they get control of your city, that is what follows. Frown

Whatever they get control of, on whatever scale, they destroy. For example, California. Obama was well on his way to destroying the whole country. Because they are each concerned only with their personal power and enrichment. We say Seattle is dying, but have a close look at the politicians involved and I will bet that they are drawing high salaries, living in big houses, with a hundred other perks. They are doing very well. Like parasites engorging and fattening on the increasingly weaker, sicker host.

Part of the fun is that the problems with Seattle are now spilling outside of the city. A lot of the nice little towns in Western Washington now are starting to fill with bums. Also, everyone in the western part of the country who wants to be a bum knows that if they come here they're going to get free shit. You can see this if you drive down I-90 across Washington. Every time we stop in Ellensburg to get gas I either see bums heading to Seattle or get hit up for gas money.

Seattle subsidizes vagrancy and the residents are a bunch of SJWs that enable it. The city council is split between the liberals who want to clean things up and the commies who want to make it worse and who actively blame the successful in the city for causing the problem.

The solution is very simple. Stop spending money on the problem and fill the jails with crooks. I'd also totally ban camping in the city limits. If you pitch a tent or park an RV you go to jail.

Seattle is the shining spotlight of what progressives will do to the entire country.
