Croatia has a good team. Not 3-0 good against argentina since they lack a finisher but there are a lot of good soccer players that come out of such a small nation. Oh shit, im biased, hrvatska!

It was amazing watching the Argentine defense just stand there as the Croatian player ran around them and scored...Reminded me of my kids U8 games

Japan vs. Senegal was a very exciting match.

The Senegal team is impressive.

Not a soccer rules genius by any stretch. Having a bit of a hard time understanding what has been going on with holding during corner kicks.

Today's Argentina vs Nigeria game allowed Nigeria to tie things up with a penalty kick due to holding against them on the preceeding corner kick. Commentators discussed the lack of refs calling this foul and FIFA directing hightened sensitivity to the issue. WTH?

Can someone give a run down the history and politics of this issue?

There has always be pushing, pulling etc on corner kicks.

I have to say though that in this WC it's been pretty rough.

Usually over the years the offense gets called for the foul.

I can't say that any politics are involved, but it looks as if they want to get it under control.

If it's the "new directive to actually call it" that's the result you saw.

Thanks PR64. Smile But from what the commentators said this particular ref is the only one who has judged a foul and others, with far more serious holding, have ignored it. Weird.

Argentina pulls to a 2-1 lead at the 87th minute.

Well, Argentina squeaked through. I like Messi, but I was hoping Iceland would make it to the Round of 16. Argentina has to get by France on Saturday.

Maradona continues to be a class act as he salutes the Nigerian fans after the go ahead goal. Roll Eyes

Guess he got a little too excited and needed checking out by paramedics. Wouldn't want the guy on the right working on me, though.

Germany was dreadful. They fully earned the early trip back to Deutschland.

I hope England does well tomorrow.

Germany was sloppy in all three. If they would have advanced they would have been embarrassed by whoever they faced next rohnd.
