Join me in the Wayback Machine, to 1954, when I was in kindergarten, waiting in line with the rest of the class to go into some whole-school assembly or something. The rest of the class, that is, except one kid who was wandering up and down the school hallway, playing with matches. I still remember him walking along, lighting matches, then walking back, crying, looking at his open fly with sparks and flames coming out where he'd lit his privates on fire, then being carried back the other way by two teachers in a panic, looking for something to put out the fire with. Nobody in the class panicked, because we were pretty smart. We all knew that if you dropped flaming matches into your open zipper, you'd light your privates on fire.
