I know your question was rhetorical, but one of the tenets of Islam is that if you die while in the act of killing an infidel, you are GUARANTEED to go to heaven. It's the ONLY way to be absolutely SURE that you will go to heaven.
Even total capitulation won't work - they have said this in their charters. Hamas' charter is quite clear. In it they state there is nothing Israel can do to appease them. No compromise, not even vacating the land called Israel. They insist the only thing they will accept is the total annihilation of all Jews from the planet. Of course, you and I know that even THAT wouldn't suffice their lust for murder. Even if they succeeded in "converting" the entire world population to Islam, then they'd be killing each other - there are three distinct sects of Islam. So, the killing would never end.
