Just picked this up from Piper Custom. He did this Colt Custom Build for me. The grips are my "Starry Night" grips, although I'm sure that's not what Sarge from The Finer Grain calls them.

I don't have my photo setup any more so these are just iPhone pictures after greasing it up for the range. I hope to take it out for a spin soon.

I bought the gun new. Here is the parts list.

Heinie sight set...............
Wilson gold bead front sight...
EGW bushing....................
EGW slide stop.................
Wilson Extractor...............
EGW Ejector....................
EGW thumb safety...............
EGW grip safety................
EGW guide rod..................
Wilson hammer..................
EGW sear.......................
EGW disconnector...............
STI firing Pin.................
EGW firing pin stop............
Stan Chen mainspring housing...
10-8 magazine catch............
Greider trigger................
Wolff sear spring..............
Wolff recoil spring............
EGW grip screws................

Here is a list of the work done.

High cut frontstrap, hand checker 25 lpi, bordered
Machine frame for Chen mainspring housing,
blend, round heel, checker 25 lpi.
Machine & hand bevel mag well
Cut frame, fit & blend grip safety, convert to series
80
Fit, re shape & blend thumb safety
Fit & blend oversized slide stop, shorten &round,
recess & chamfer frame hole
Fit magazine release, blend
Fit trigger
Fit oversized firing pin stop
Machine slide for front and rear sights
Fit & tune extractor
Fit oversized bbl bushing on lathe & blend
Machine slide- live round eject, flare ejection port
True & polish breech face
Fit, cut, tune ejector & blend
30 degree recessed & polished flush crown
Serrate rear of slide 40 lpi
Machine feed ramp 31.5 degrees & hand polish
Re cut bbl throat & polish
Smooth & fit all fire control parts. Trigger job 4.5
lbs
De burr/ de horn gun and all parts
Satin bead blast, hand polish slide flats 400 grit
Test fire- silver tip, hydra shok, & norma. All ok

I really like the gold bead front sight. It picks up especially well in the AZ sun. I had Don Williams put those on two 1911's he built for me. We used plain black Heinie sights, front and rear, and once we determined the correct front sight height, he just drilled it and installed the gold bead (I believe he got the gold bead from SDM who make the S&W gold bead sights).

It is a Beauty and a Beast! Took it to the range for the first time today. Shot only the SIG Elite ammunition which is on the heavier side. Ran well, dead on accurate.
