Thanks! The actual clouds were a bit more subdued, but I manipulated the white balance, contrast, and saturation in post to perk them up a bit.

Ok, that is just awesome! Now there's a new toy to throw in my list of stuff I want to get. Does it fly itself, such as hover in auto pilot to free you up to manipulate the camera, or is it more of a two person operation?

Got the DJI Phantom 3 Advanced.

One person operation, if you go hands off flight controls, it hovers and holds position via GPS and compass. Does have Auto take off and auto land as well, but I was actually pretty surprised at just how easy it is to fly.

Uses your smart phone or tablet as a video display in addition to the stars RC controller. Has live video download so you see what it sees when it is seeing it.

I'm thinking of picking up a Phantom II because they are pretty reasonable now that the III is out. My stepson has a Yuneec Q500 Typhoon that I've flown and they are a lot of fun.

I was thinking the same until I saw how much more the 3 gives you. I knew if I got the 2, it would be short lived to step up to the 3. Figured I'd save money in the long run by spending a little more up front and buying once instead of buying twice and taking a hit selling the 2.

For me, the camera is the primary purpose and the live downlink is awesome. Always had a thing about RC aircraft, so brings those two things together. If I didn't care about photography and just wanted to fly a quad, I'd have probably gone with the 2.

Well, after taking the mayor in our carriage with a two horse escort for the 4th of July parade, here are some photos of last week at the final race of the Cowboy/Trail Challenge series.

My wife won two divisions for the series, including the "Legends" division for the 55 and over riders. Two buckles. Last year, she won high point over the season in English jumping, equitation, hunter hack and etc with the same horse. She's the one jumping in the photo below. Her horse is accustomed to higher jumps. Wink

These are a few of hundreds of pics. Unfortunately, I do not know how to get them here in higher resolution.

The Resident finally got around to ordering flags to half-mast, just five days after the attack. Must have finally had a chance to catch the news... :roll eyes:

Who else beat him to it? Post them up!

You bastards! Big Grin

You're costing me money. Ordered up a Phantom 3 off Amazon and should be here tomorrow. Looking forward to it, but they are a little spendy.

Hope you got at least one extra battery, waiting 90 min or more after flying 15 min to fly again should be consider torture, I'd rather be waterboarded! I just picked up a third battery and a second charger today.

I did get one extra battery with it.

The bitch is the DJI pilot app appears to be incompatible with my iPad Mini (1st gen). So now I'll need to upgrade to the mini 3 as well...or just use my iPhone (the screen is a bit small for that though).

Oh well. Its only money. There's more where that came from.

Our USPSA match director brought his boss' DJ quadcopter to some shoots. They (his boss, construction industry) had put quite a bit into upgrades, one of which was the controller, which really impressed me. I don't see it at all on the DJ site. It was about 8"x10". The top half was a screen showing the camera's view, and it had a pop-up hood to shield it from the sun. Below the screen were all of the flight and camera controls. He said the entire setup, including all of the upgrades (upgraded motors and rotors, controller, etc) totalled about $4,000. Next time he brings it I'll pay more attention.

My wife just found this nest in one of our Palms. pretty amazing! We're guessing it's an Oriole nest, now to get pictures of the birds!

We have a Hummingbird nest on the patio, this nest is more than 10 times in size.
