Taken last Thursday at my son's first official Cub Scout meeting (pictured right), we have his patches but haven't had them sewn on yet. He still needs to learn about squaring away his uniform (gig line) and to keep his hands out of his pockets but he loves it already.
A penny saved is a government oversight.

A few more photos from the freezing rain effects series from the last few days.
These are some sunrise shots I took this morning. Most of the ice from the recent two rounds of freezing rain is still coating the trees.
This morning, the clouds were perfect and the moment just came together wonderfully. I couldn't have found myself in a better place than my front yard with my trusty old Canon 20D at a better time.
From Sunday in my back yard. We had a lot of Finches show up as well as a horde of Robins. They're all gone now, just stopped by on their way South, I guess.

So I photographed these yesterday while out and about. I have reached the conclusion that it's just about time to start looking at filters. I've read a circular polarizer might be useful for landscapes helping clouds and sky and I assume snow pop more.
Our daughter as the train to Chicago arrived at the station (kicking up the snow):
Marshal Field & Company has decorated its windows with a Christmas theme for decades. Both of my grandfathers on my mom and dad's side worked at Field's in the 50's through the 70's. We have always gone to Chicago to see the windows and then have breakfast or lunch in The Walnut Room on the 7th floor of Field's. Macy's bought Field's but they have carried on the tradition.
The Great Tree in The Walnut Room:
I just love the clocks on the corners of the store.
Our catahoula Charlotte's first Christmas with us since we adopted her from a shelter in February. She loved opening her bone:
