just1tymI'm trying to get better images using my iphone 4S. I've seen some really good images but haven't yet taken a decent one. This one is using the HDR feature and it does look a tad better, it's just not getting there yet. You can however see that my Canon is gathering dust in the interim. I may just give up on the iphone and go back to using the dslr again, which is ultimately a lot more work. At least with the iphone it automatically transfers images to my macbook. For a wireless transfer device for the Canon WFT-E7A they want almost $800..

David LeeIs that really dust? I don't know much about the Canons except that some of the models, just like some of the Nikons, I have to avoid as they get very expensive. I would think your 5D is just that. Wow dude, that's a lot of dust.

David, yea guilty of the "dust" the camera has actually been sitting on the tripod for more than six months. I usually have it in the roller bag but was thinking about doing some macro photography which never materialized. Since I purchased the iphone I remember seeing a thread on images taken with cell phones and was pretty impressed. I cannot however get a decent image with mine yet, but I do appreciate the ease of tech and the ability to snap off an image and it goes directly into the macbook, both iphoto and aperture automatically. It's an expensive option for the Canon for the transmitter. In the image I took above, I was curious how much detail (to include the dust) the iphone would actually pick up...not so much. I think from now on if I want some decent close-up images I'll go back to the Canon with my 100mm macro lens. It does take more prep work but the results are obvious. The resolution with the iphone really doesn't do justice unless just snapping a photo for recording purposes just to have a photo. Here's better resolution with the 100mm macro on the Canon..

David LeeThat's a beautiful photo of your Ed Brown. I will own a macro lens some day as I go along learning lenses. Some are pricey.
No excuse for letting that nice Canon get all dusty now..

Thanks David! Since the image was taken the Kobra Carry has been upgraded with several nice personal touches. Certainly a good reason for dusting off the Canon and updating a recent photo of it. The 100mm macro lens is a great lens and does macro great, it also does nice portraits as well. This is my second copy of this lens, as I didn't realize how much it would be missed the first time around for doing close-up work. There are alternatives that aren't as pricey but you just need to find one that meets your needs. You can't really go wrong with Canon or Nikon, both make great cameras and gear.

David Leeiphone pic of a Chip Munk..

just1tymYour iphone seems to have better resolution than mine does David. Is that a 5? I was hoping for a little better images with mine even at 8mp. I remember very early digital cameras with less mp's taking better photo's, but maybe I'm expecting too much from a camera phone. Can you zoom to bring up the chipmunk? I think the iphone's have this capability but I'm still playing around with mine. Maybe it would take better photos outdoors. Your colors are nice!

David LeeI believe it will zoom but I got as near to him without scaring him off. I zoomed in as large as I could with photobucket and snipped this picture.
One thing I noticed with my Windows 7, I can drag images from my pictures now right into photobucket to upload them. Works pretty good.
Its a 5 just1tym.
