I little more experimenting with lighting set up before I give in and just buy a couple adjustable soft box units!

My goal is to end up with something that provides good lighting, but remains portable, with the plan being to have to travel to where the guns are rather than have them come to me for studio work.

Oh yeah, the gun is a single shot percussion, proofed as Belgian made, but no markings other than a GL on the inside of the lock plate, and matching SN on the barrel and breech plug. Looks to be very well made in any regard!

Now that's a cool piece of history there. The photos are great and I think whatever you're doing for lighting is working, or at the very least on the right track.

Could we maybe see what you've got for a light setup?

Those were just done with plain old western WA rainy weather daylight through a window. Which I like, so I am actually going to use it as my baseline for whatever portable lighting setup I come up with, at least for the setting shots like these.

For the white background cutout shots, I might move to more of a Lightbox style surround lighting. Realistically, most of the photography I need will be this style, so I can wrap text.

Working on a book covering "pocket pistols" in the US over the last 200 years. So most photos will really probably be straight on side views. But I want to keep the artistic shots with backgrounds for occasional use in each chapter.

Gave in to the lure of overnight delivery from amazon and bought a cheap soft box setup to play around with.

Pretty flimsy construction, but it uses LED, and if nothing else, it's definitely light enough to travel!

Came with two boxes about 18"x24" and stands. With adjustable brightness, it allows for some flexibility. We will have to see how long they last!

I think if I was going to have a carry gun engraved, I would do it up in English style scroll work.

Even if it did look goofy on a Glock.

I don't think it would look goofy at all! Do it right, and stainless slide. Stainless trigger, pins, Mag release, maybe a magwell too. Keep the frame simple. Not a bad looking pistol!

There's a few members on here that post their engraved guns. Straight gun porn! Beautiful stuff!!!
I think it's MrMM or 6MM6, someone like that... a Stainless S&S snub and there's a Walther PPK with some old world, deep engraving that you'll drool over! The Walther has the oak leaves and eastern European scrolling in it. True craftsmanship which is, unfortunately, a dying art form.

I do sometimes think about getting a quote to do a G34 MOS slide with full coverage scroll just so I can have the all time awesomeness duty gun….

Then I picture admin heads exploding.

Then I remember I’m the guild president. And the head firearms guy. And there’s nothing in policy.

And really…. Are a few explody heads really a bad thing?

Hmmm....
I'm trying to figure out my timing on retirement and seeing if you're looking for 1 more cop...
I bring my own G-34 with a Trigicon RDS, I just need to find a good engraver! Wink

Bro.

Western Washington.

King County.

I would actually have to hit you with a Thorazine dart from a PCP air rifle and lock you in a small room until you regained your senses if you ever tried to lateral here.

Just to be able to look in the mirror every morning.

I can’t wait to retire and move to The USA.

Can't be any worse than here.
AND... I'd be able to carry a super cool duty gun. So I got that going for me!
