Rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated |
If allowed, with all the pet owners on here, I thought maybe a pet memorial wall could be a good idea. Many of us have pets of all kinds, and unfortunately we usually out live them. Having owned and lost 7 dogs over the last 40 years, each one has taken a piece of my heart when they pass. Most recently we lost Candy, who would have been 16 years old this month. She passed the day after Trumps inauguration. So my friends let's celebrate the joyful memories that they have given us over their too short lives. Remember dog is god spelled backwards. He gave us them for a reason, cats and other critters too. Para, if not allowed, please delete. Thanks. "Someday I hope to be half the man my bird-dog thinks I am." looking forward to 4 years of TRUMP!

This was Mishka. After this one I said "no more". She was a good girl for me but she hated anything smaller than her. She would spill out her food to attract birds and then kill them, one by one. One time she also killed a mini poodle and was playing with the corpse. We thought it was a neighbor's dog but when I went to tell them what happened, their dog greeted me at their door. We never did find out whose dog that was.

This is my good boy Jake. I always thought this picture of him peeking around the corner was kind of funny. "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "The United States government is the largest criminal enterprise on earth." -rduckwor

Luke, our Catahoula Leopard Dog He was a shelter dog my wife got before we met. Became my dog after we were married. We were a little nervous when we had kids about how he would react to them. Bringing our first born home flipped the protective switch on him. He loved the girls & tolerated baby interaction like a saint. They would body slam him when they first started walking & he wouldn't even flinch. Hit me shockingly hard when we had to put him down, splenic tumor at 10 yrs old. The Enemy's gate is down.

Don't Shop. Adopt. |
They say talking about a lost loved one helps with the grieving process so I think this is a wonderful idea. I adopted Peanut in 2001 when she was 12 weeks old. She lived until 12/14/15 when she passed away from CHF at 14.5 years old. She was my first dog as an adult and still very missed..... We adopted Riley in 2005 from the same shelter we got Peanut from. He was about a year old and was the true definition of a Terrier. He was my best buddy and we lost him in May of 2023 at the age of 19 from complications of Canine Cognitive Dysfunction. Even though we knew it was time, letting him go was beyond heartbreaking. Max was adopted in 2006 from the same SPCA as Peanut and Riley and he was also around a year old. Max was my wife's baby and they had a special bond. We lost Max in November 2023 from kidney failure at the age of 18. Losing Max was such a shock as he was very healthy until 3 days before his passing. And then there is Tucker. This one really broke my heart. Tucker was a foster failure and came to us in December of 2011 when he was around a year old. He was a once in a lifetime dog. Tucker passed away two weeks after Max from CHF a month before his 13th birthday. He died in my arms in the very early hours at home. I still have yet to get used to my "new normal". ______________________________________________ "Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever." - Karen Davison "Man can measure the values of his own soul in the look of the eyes of an animal he's helped" - Author Unkown

I love this idea. This is my Lily. We lost her 5 years ago. For 12 years we were blessed to have her love and goodness. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

Pictured with my son are Cindy Lou, Candy, and Hank. Cindy was a lovable Yorkshire. She lived about 14 years. Hank, my chestnut Llewellin sadly only lived 9 years. My God was he an incredible pointer. And Candy, who was almost 16 years who just recently passed. I miss them all every single day...
