Ordered this some months ago from Ryan & Kay, needed something special for my old beloved 39-2.
Ryan came through, as always, with another holster semi custom to provide exactly my request.

They are such a pleasure to discuss a project with, and the end product is always leather artwork.
My crappy cell phone pics don't come close to capturing the richness and color of the leather.

There’s just nothing like coming home and a package from RGrizzle Leather waiting for you !

That holster is so fine.

However, that 39 is smokin' hot.

Love the plum patina on the slide.

Never owned one, but always admired the 39.

Do I spy some skate board tape or stippling on the front and back straps?

Yup, good eye. I have some Talon grip tape on the front and rear straps and it makes a world of difference.

This pic shows the plum color.
I’ve shot the snot out of this gun over the years and its double action is buttery smooth (for an old Smith).

So, it's safe to shoot +P and +P+ in an old 39? I didn't realize that. I sold mine many years ago for a bunch of reasons, but my old college roommate still has one, I'll have to ask what ammo he's using.

I got several hundred rounds of that Federal 115gr +P+ that I'm relegating to my Glocks, I'm told it's quite effective.

Well, I honestly don’t have any data that shows if it’s acceptable or not, other than that Fed 9BPLE load was what we all carried back in the day and I haven’t heard of issues (redneck science, right?).

I actually currently use Hornady Critical Duty 135+P in it since that load shoots great groups and the point of impact is dead nuts where I want it. I think this load runs about 1075 or 1100fps IIRC.

Thanks for the info! No question the 39 is a beautiful piece, and I really wish mine had worked out for me.
