Sweet, I have been keeping any eye out for a black watch. Soon

How is the black coating holding up on the watch and band

Wow, I just noticed the scratches on the bezel. I hadn't noticed that without the magnification. It's held up better than I thought it would. I'm still looking for a rubber strap for the summer.

BigSwede, I have a few Seiko DLC black cased watches. Their coating is tough as nails.

Seiko’s gold coating is tough too but will eventually wear off revealing stainless steel underneath. It creates a neat patina effect.

I have a factory gold plated Seiko Stargate with a VERY good amount of patina. I’ll post up a pic when I am able.

A shot of my favorite Seiko in Palma de majorca. A UAP even managed to make it into the pic! Big Grin

My S1 Invicta Auto is one of my go-to summer rotation watches. I bought it before the earth cooled @ Costco for pennies on the Rolex. I am currently using a black metal mesh band as it is easier on-off/length adjustable.

Wow!! That is definitely not the Seiko I have. Mine was less than $500.

Also, I think that Tissot is a great looking watch. Enjoy it!!

I got a call from my B-I-L of 45 years that his Rolex has to go to the 'hospital' for 14 to 16 months!! I have no idea what he did to it that requires that long a stay. But what he wanted from me were suggestions of a men's dress watch in the $500-$1000 range to tide him over till his 'baby' gets back. I sent him ideas for 2 watches to consider: a Tissot and a Longines

Any and all suggestions from the SF watch guys is welcome. T.I.A.

Someone in one of the watch groups I follow on Facebook posted this Longines.

What a beautiful watch! I’m gonna have to look into this model a bit more. I LOVE the color way and overall aesthetic of this watch!

Edit to add. After a little digging I’m liking it even more.

Agreed. I just don't like the "busy" bracelet on the Longines.

Thanks all for your input. I too like the Tissot the best. The Longines is $972 from JOMASHOP. The Tissot is $400 with FREE Delivery (next day) from Amazon!
BigSwede, I am forwarding those Hamiltons to my B-I-L.

I like that diver! They look even better in real life. If I didn’t already have too many Hamilton watches I’d own one.

Of the three you linked this one is my favorite.
