I am really liking the Prospex line from Seiko!

For a regular Seiko, they are sure upping their game!
Micro adjust bracelet, solid movements, clear case backs…
You’re getting a lot of watch for a pretty good price!

I'm wearing my Zero West DB-1 Lancaster pilot's watch this weekend to commemorate the 83rd anniversary of Operation Chastise ("Dam Busters" raid), the RAF's WWII attack on the Rhur river dams which provided power to Nazi Germany's hydroelectric system and the war machine that depended on it. 19 Lancaster bombers left England and 11 returned, with 53 crewmen killed on the night of May 16/17, 1943.

This pilot design watch by the UK company Zero West has an easy to read dial that bears resemblance to the Lancaster's altimeter, notes the height above the water ("60 FT") the aircraft needed to be to successfully deploy the unique bouncing bombs, the coordinates of the attack on Sorpe Dam that bomber# ED825 was tasked with, and has an aluminum disc on the back of the watch that was salvaged from material of that actual aircraft (it survived the mission but crashed on a subsequent attack later in the war).

I like the watch's look, the historical elements, and the fact that it memorializes the sacrifices of the crewmembers that lost their lives on these dangerous missions.

Puli, that Zero West is sharp, assuming that's a functional altimeter?

Even if functional - will not indicate true el in a pressurized cabin!

Thanks, but not a functional altimeter! Just a nicely done pilot's watch with a design that resembles the altimeter on a Lancaster bomber.

These were limited releases and I don't know where you can find this model by Zero West other than the secondary market (Chrono 24 might have some listed?). However, Zero West has some other very cool commemoratives that are available either now or pre-order, including the AV1 Vulcan bomber that attacked the Ascension Island-Port Stanley airfield as part of (Operation Black Buck) during the Falklands War, a couple different sized watches recognizing the Mosquito bomber attack on Amiens Prison utilized by the Gestapo during "Operation Jericho", and two Spitfire commemoratives.

One of these Spitfires was flown by a member of an elite Photographic Reconnaissance Unit (Sandy Gunn), who was shot down, captured by the Germans, took part in the "Great Escape" from Stalag Luft III, subsequently recaptured and with 49 other escapees was shot by orders from Hitler.

Cool Thank you!

I can't take a great pic of it, but the face on this one is amazing in the direct sunlight.
