But, there's only 1 AD listed on the site, and it's across town.
Have heard people are camping out to get these. I'm not that interested.
If they're a regular catalog item & the hypd dies down and/or they are available for online order, I'd be tempted.

Omega+Swatch = MoonSwatch

The Mercury, Moon, Jupiter & Neptune models look great, the rest don't do much for me.
I like the Earth model, but not the green case.

Swatch told another guy elsewhere that they would find their way to internet sales via the Swatch group. No need to rush down to try to get one.

I read that too, that they're not a limited/numbered series & may make their way to expanded sales/online.

All the early adopters & social media folks who just have to have it first.
Have seen some photos from the Asia market where people are literally camped in lines like it's Black Friday.

I'm patient & don't need one, but an Omega Moonwatch is near the top of my watch grail list.
A MoonSwatch could suffice for now Razz

I very much have a Speedmaster on my list, but the MoonSwatch wouldn't do it for me.

There is no substitute! Hesalite at the front, and sapphire on the back!

That is a beauty. Love the throw-back movement.

The Swatch Moonwatch/Speedy has me intrigued. The Moon and Pluto are the ones that caught my eye. I will buy one when the hype settles to satisfy my Omega Speedy cravings till I can swing the real thing.

Beautiful Speedmaster, r0gue. If I had to have a moonwatch, I don't think I could be ok with it saying "MoonSwatch" on the dial. Just.... eh.

Scrolling through those offerings, Mission to Uranus made me giggle. I know, but I hope I never really completely grow up.

P250UA5, I was going to recommend you look at a Bulova Lunar Pilot if you wanted an "affordable" moon watch, but holy balls, they've jumped in price since I last looked. I seem to recall them being under $300. Maybe I'm wrong, but they sure as hell weren't in the $400 ballpark.

The case-back movement on that Speedy is amazing. I never get tired of rOgue posting up pics of that masterpiece. Cool

My wife’s favorite MoonSwatch

I did chuckle a bit when she said she thinks Uranus is her fav. Big Grin

Her second fav

She also liked Earth which I wasn’t expecting.

My favorites

I also really like

Saturn is the only one to have the planet on the dial.

If the soccer team I coach hadn’t changed jersey colors after three years of being bright yellow I’d consider this one Big Grin

If I do buy one it would be Jupiter because I like love the red hands and the overall appearance of the watch.

Omega is playing a dangerous game making a damn cool watch that fits the Speedy ethos perfectly for $250. Strange company. They work so hard to pull their name out of the Sam's Club gutter. And then they go into business making their own Homage watches. Big Grin

I have to believe that they're trying to create their own funnel of new enthusiasts to grow and mature into an ever-increasing spiral of desire. Culminating in a bunch of new high-dollar Omega product.

To be honest, at this point in my journey, I'd almost be happy to wear the MoonSwatch and take the cash out of mine. Not gonna I don't think. But...

rOgue, I’ve been thinking about it and I believe Omega will stand to gain from this. The MoonSwatch is already listed on the fleabay for well above the $260 MSRP.

It’s neat and the colors are cool but it isn’t a real Omega Speedy. A quartz just cannot capture the feel of a mechanical masterpiece such as yours. Sure they are colorful and probably fun for a bit but it’s not the same and people will realize this. It will make the masses who pulled the trigger for the quartz swatch long for the real deal. Which I believe is a good thing.

Now, for people like my wife it will be excellent. Her automatic isn’t worn everyday (she actually can’t wear it everyday due to work regs) so it often drains its power reserve before she wears it again. When I explained to her this watch won’t do that she was VERY interested in a few colors ehhh I mean planets. Big Grin It’s the first time I’ve seen her experience interest in buying a watch rather than reluctance at the many watches we already own. So that’s interesting.

Look at this madness.

Can anyone tell me the overall diameter of the MoonSwatch? I couldn't find it on the website.

ETA, I see 42mm on eBay.

Yeah, 42mm

I aspire for a real Moonwatch.
The Moon MoonSwatch could tide me over for a while, and being an inexpensive quartz wouldn't be a bad thing.

I'd be curious how tough it'd be to swap what I expect is a mineral crystal for a sapphire. That seems to be where I knock my Citizen the most.

P220 Smudge makes a damn good point. Don’t discount the Bulova Lunar Pilot. The high frequency quartz movement is one of the most accurate watches I’ve ever encountered. The seconds hand also has an almost automatic style sweep. I had one for a bit but gifted it to one of the pilots in my family who absolutely loves the watch. Smile

It’s history and fact that it actually went on a lunar mission after an astronaut’s Speedy popped off it’s Crystal is quite interesting.

If you really want to scratch the speedy itch I think it’s a vastly superior watch to this Swatch dressed up like a speedy. It has a fascinating history too

It doesn’t come in all those tempting colors though….

What's the size on the Bulova compared to the Speedy?
The Bulova looks quite large in those shots.

My Citizen F150 is 44mm and almost as big as I'd want to go for my wrist size.

I was just going to Chime in. My Son, a watch hound, sent me the link to the Omega/Swatch yesterday.

I was shocked and could not understand why they would cross-pollinate the two brands.

I check in here and see I am a day late and a dollar short.

FWIW, if I could find one for retail, I woule likely buy it.

P250UAS,

History and specs of the Bulova Moon watch

From the article:

“Some WIS (watch idiot savants) think it’s “too big” at 45mm across and 52mm lug-to-lug. It IS a big watch. But it’s an astronaut watch! It’s supposed to be big and highly legible. For reference, my wrist (above) is 7″.”

I’ll add that I didn’t find mine to be too big at all. It was pretty awesome on a NATO strap.
