Thats a nice piece Jhe88. I am drooling over some of the Eco drives I have seen on sale recently, but the GF bought me a Casio something or other, not a bad watch, It has some heft to it and it is shiny. Plus it is an Eco drive wannabe so I dont want to hurt her feelings and buy a nicer shinier watch so soon after she got me one. Maybe I can get her to buy the Eco drive for me

Thanks. It's a Maratac SR-1, sold exclusively at CountyComm.com. Maratac is an in-house brand for CountyComm that initially produced nylon gear such as Zulu and NATO watch straps, very nice mini-flashlights, and eventually military inspired watches. This is the first of their watches that I've owned, (I have several of their flashlights & bands) & I have to say, thus far I'm really digging it. Especially with the orange rubber aftermarket strap, I'm getting compliments daily on it. Be warned, it's a large watch, over 46mm diameter case, but it wears small. I've added a wrist shot and a shot with my 41mm Marathon SAR for a comparison. They were selling it at $349 for a while, but I got mine for less that $200 shipped before they sold out. It looks like it's back in stock again for $219 which is still a great price for such a large hunk of stainless steel with a decent automatic movement.

Been thinking about what to do with mine and even asked Jack his opinion at IWW. He really didn't have much to offer.

Hi RMD. No mods. Stock Marathon SAR-D (The D was a misprinted dial from Marathon that included tritium markers on a luminova dial. Saved me about $125 if I recall and is now slightly more collectible). The other is a stock Maratac SR-1. I'm neighbors almost with Jack and have gone out to eat and talk watches with him a couple of times. He is good peeps and installed this Yao prototype mod in a Seiko 007 that I unfortunately no longer own. I don't keep up with that community much anymore, but I know there are a lot of other good watch modders who have come along, so IWW is not the only game in town any longer.

Waxed cotton nato. Traditional design nato, but cotton not nylon.
The model of the watch is officially the Aqua-Date. But the type is an SC. I believe the exact case that many of the models of the time used. You'll see this case on JLCs of the era. I guess they shared a bit, or sourced from common vendors.
Here's a cool ad from the mid 60's. Diving was really hot then. Frogmen/Skin Divers and such. Remember James Bond Thunderball?

This is an interesting watch. This quartz movement is accurate to 10 seconds a year. Normal quartz movements are accurate to about 20 to 30 seconds a month.
By comparison, a non-certified mechanical watch is accurate, roughly speaking to -6/+10 seconds a day, or maybe not even quite that good. A certified chronometer will be accurate to -4/+6 seconds a day, and some are a touch better.
So 10 seconds a year is quite remarkable.

Grand Seikos are very nice watches. The accuracy of their movement makes you wonder why anyone would lump out the $$ for a certified chronometer mechanical movement, but there is a soul in the good mechanical movements that's just not there in the quartz movements.
Nevertheless, a great watch.
