Any information on loading 7.62x39. I have a few pounds of Accurate 1680 that i will work up a load for. I plan on using Hornady sst 123g also some Berrys plated 123g. Thanks
The powder should be ideal for the round, plenty of data out there. I like to cross reference a fair bit with a newer to me cartridge.
I have a CZ 527 in 7.62x39, compact & light. One idea was to handload for use as a short range deer round. I have other options so haven’t gone down that road yet.

Thanks for the information. I guess mainly what i am looking for is any tips or tricks loading the 7.62x39. For rifle I normally reload 30-06 and 243 wssm
Depends on rifle you are reloading for and purpose. Most AK and SKS use a .311 diameter bullet. Most of the bolt action chamberings use a .308 diameter bullet. Need a set of dies with expander balls for both. Neck sizing or light crimp for bolt action, med crimp for semi-auto use. Lots of discussion about details on web.

Unless you know that the cases are boxer primed, you will need to check for burdan primed cases especially in older mil surplus brass. Look inside the case with a good light. 1 flash hole is a boxer primer and ok. 2 flash holes is a burdan primer and a throw away in my opinion.
p.s. get a spare decaping pin just in case you miss one. This message has been edited. Last edited by: sig operator,
