Update in OP: load worked well. 9mm 147gr TMJ / Winchester 231 and 124gr question
So I loaded 50 rounds of 147gr TMJ pulled bullets with Winchester SPP, 3.5 gr. Win 231, and COAL of 1.15”
Functioned perfectly in the MP5 and the 2k11. Gonna increase to 3.6 grains just to ensure continued operations. Sounded great in the MP5 with OCL milkman.
Got about 2k 147 gr to get loaded then I’ll see about the 124 gr.
I’m glad it worked well in both firearms. I was afraid it wouldn’t cycle the Kimber.
A little dirtier than I would like in the HK but I can live with it. Everything I’ve shot through it up to this point seems to be leave a lot of buildup around the magazine and out the rear, collecting near the stock pin.
Found in the Lyman manual to start with 3.5 grains @ 1.115 COAL.
Bullets should be here this week from American reloading.
Anyone use this combo? Gonna be for the UZI and SP5.
Got another 1000 124gr in the other day, I was thinking to save the Winchester 231 for the subs and try to find some titegroup for the 124s. Yall use something different you’d recommend? This message has been edited. Last edited by: OttoSig,

Why? I use HP38 allee samee W231 for all non-magnums except very light powderpuff .45s. 9mm 115, 124, 125, 135, 147 all shoot as well as I can hold.

James - I currently use 231 in all of my 9mm reloads, except my 147gr sub-sonic reloads.
My current loads are as follows:
For my PPC - AR, which I shoot 300-600 rounds a month thru, I shoot the following powder puff load.
For my P320X5 with a Holosun 507Comp optic, I had to go up on the above mentioned load to 3.8gr of 231 because after adding the Holosun because the pistol would not cycle 100% of the time using 3.5gr. After going up to 3.8gr it cycles perfectly.
For my SMG and when I want to shoot any 9mm pistol suppressed, the load I shoot is:
X-Treme or Berry’s 147gr FMJ - .355” 4.6gr of Power Pistol OAL - 1.15” This load is runs around 910-930 FPS.
I do not load any 147’s using 231 so sorry that I cannot help you with that question. Mark

I use W231 + 147gr loads for my SP5K. I've found the combo to work well when shooting suppressed and it seems much cleaner than Titegroup. I'm slowly shifting away from Titegroup because it's dirty and is much easier to overcharge because of the low charge weights.
For my 124gr loads I've been using AA#7. Clean stuff.

What charge of W231 and what COAL if you don't mind sharing?
SIGARMS, thank you, Sir.

Sure. For the 124gr, 8.0gr of AA#7 at 1.135" COAL. For the 147gr, 4.0gr W231 and 1.10" COAL. The 147gr are TC while the 124gr are FMJ with pretty long ogives.
I mainly load the 124gr for my carry gun, but the SP5k runs both just fine, suppressed and unsuppressed.
