Hello all, I got to chatting with a buddy who has some NFA full auto weapons, and we were chatting about shooting reloaded ammo through them. He is adamant about not shooting reloads through his full auto in case something happens. He only shoots factory and doesn’t want to risk damaging his receivers (the registered part) of his weapons. Does anyone out here shoot reloads through NFA class 3 weapons? If so, do you worry about damaging parts of your weapons and turning them into tomato stakes? —mk25

Full auto or semi-auto, I can see similar concerns with each. As to reloads, one would have to start with who the reloader was? With full auto, proper resizing is a biggie, then likely the load itself. That could be powder type, burn rate, charge, & the bullet. A little like how one should use proper loads for an M1 Garand, factory or reloads.

He’s a totally competent reloader with hundreds of thousands (millions?) of rounds loaddd without issue. He has top quality gear and uses factory info/powders/bullets. Much like me, he loads down for pistols when appropriate. I just wonder why, when there’s a hungry mouth to feed, he won’t use the cheapest source of quality ammo. But it’s his choice. I doubt he’d ever have a leg to stand on if one of his nfa items blew up with factory ammo and he brought suit for a destroyed weapon.

Many folks that own and shoot legal NFA full auto guns have soooooo much money tied up in them that they won't scrimp a few bucks on reloads and risk damaging the receiver .It just isn't that smart of a move.

I have been hand loading for more than four decades now. My select fire weapons have had many 10s of thousands of my hand loads through them When firing my UZI with the suppressor attached I use my hand loads exclusively. I actually have a 165 grain projectile and it is very very quiet Now I would never trust gun show reloads in my select fire weapons, but I wouldn't trust them in any of my handguns either ------------------------------------------------------------------ NRA Benefactor . . .
