Loaded a box of 38 +p+ with old Hornady 158gr JHPs (Pre XTP).

Pretty nickel cases too.

I just got back from a FTF trade with a guy. I gave him 900 SPP .45 ACPs (cleaned) and he gave me 900 LPP .45 ACPs (cleaned and deprimed).

He's trying to consolidate his primer inventory.

This morning I loaded 500 blackout subs. Starting dinner now, then I need to load a pile of 9mm and 223 yet tonight.

I fired off a few of the first set of 9mm rounds loaded with CFE Pistol today. My range is about an hour away, I got there a bit late, only had 30 mins to shoot, chrony wasn't working, blah blah blah.. Should have been better prepared. Still, I figured I'd fire off a few rounds anyway.

The first 10 rounds were 124gr Berry's TCFP over 4.4gr @ 1.080". Was surprised that these didn't feel weak at this particular charge, having started much below Hodgdon's start load of 4.9gr with a Berrys 124gr RNHB to accomodate for the short OAL. (My P210 needs TCFPs to be seated deep) No overpressure signs and it seems the cases did not expand enough to contain the gases- lot of carbon on the cases. Accuracy was ok (I was rested on bags)

Next 10 were the same rounds @ 4.6gn. These gave a tighter group but high and to the left a bit. These did seal the chamber alot better and the cases came out clean, with no overpressure signs.

I stopped there, packed and drove an hour back home. I'll go ahead an reload 10 @ 4.4gr and another 10 @ 4.6gr so I could try again, properly sometime in the next few weeks.

How bad do you want pistol powder and are you particular about what you can get?

Alliant came out with a new pistol powder called BE-86 and from what I've read it is flash suppressant powder and some are referring to it as a clean burning Unique.

I use Unique in my 9mm reloads for USPSA and I am getting desperate so when I came across some of this on Gunbroker today for $30 a pound I thought what the hell and bought 5 pounds. The shipping cost for the 5 pounds was $45. I know it sounds a little high per pound but when you have limited places to by from locally and they are already charging $25 a pound for Unique the extra cost isn't too bad.

If you are interested the guy has 5 pounds left and it was a smooth transaction so far. Received the tracking number about an hour after I sent payment.

Over the weekend, loaded up 125 243 Win for my next range trip (ongoing w/u of 55gr Sierra BK bullets and 75 of my current load for 65gr Berger FBHP bullets). Also transitioned my Hornady LNL back to 9mm and loaded a couple hundred 124gr Precision Delta JHPs on that in my new load that will cover my recently acquired HK P2000SK. Next range trip will also include a chrono! So based on that, there will be lots of load changes in my future.

Also, 45cal will be happy to know I've given up on the Lee Factory Crimp Die. Trying to get my press converted back to 9mm was an exercise in frustration with it, and getting rid of it allowed me to also get rid of the Powder through expander in the powder measure. Press is running much smoother now!

Im interested in finding powders that aren't in the main stream.
I don't know why those in the same burn rate aren't used.

The manuals steer towards their brands ....

Well, I found a new and unexpected local source for primers and powder.
Local range has CCI small pistol primers for $30.00 and WST by the pound for $21.00.
I resized and primed 500 9mm cases today.
I am going to try the rcbs bullet drop die on my lee classic. It's a 4 hole and to use the drop die, I have to have quite a bit of flare, which requires crimping so I don't have enough holes in my turret to do a complete round start to finish.
If the bullet drop die works well enough, I may well change setup to allow a complete progression.
I have to see if I load enough to justify it.

I love WST. I use it for 45 and 40, and supersonic 9mm.

It's clean as a whistle also. I used to make some 180 gn plated .40 that felt like a .45. Really enjoyable to shoot.

I really don't like Alliant unique powder. It is so hard to meter.

I found tight group. A little hot for 9 but a little goes along way.
UPS brought my extream today. I'm good for the summer.

The BE-86 is new from Alliant so I'll find out once I can get some time to come up with a load.

From the research I've done there is a lot of speculation that it is a new version of Power Pistol with a flash suppressant added. Some claim that while Alliant was changing Bullseye they put it into bottles with a BE designation. The powder looks very similar to Power Pistol.

I live a minimum of 50 miles from any gun shop that carries powder so I'm kind of limited on my options and when I saw it on gunbroker I thought I'd take a chance. Worse case, I have some powder for plinking rounds.

Once I can get this tested I'll be sure to let everyone know my thoughts.

ETA: I have some Bullseye, Power Pistol, Unique and the BE-86 on hand. In a non-scientific comparison I put a little of each powder on a plate and looked at them under a magnifying light. The BE-86 grain size and look is very similar to the Bullseye and Power Pistol which are half the size of the Unique which should allow it to meter better than the Unique.

I even lit each one of them up and the BE-86 burned as aggressively as Power Pistol and Bullseye but it was tough to tell if the flash was less. I'll be able to compare that once I load up some rounds.

What was really surprising though was how slow the Unique burned compared to the others especially the Power Pistol when Unique is usually placed above Power Pistol on the burn charts.

I've found 4.1gr of tightgroup over a 115gr xtreme bullet to be quite nice. I've loaded 4.2 as well but .1 seemed just fine.

Grouped well, standing, off-hand with my P07. I test pistol loads at 10 yards.

Finally replenished my stock of H1000 a bit due to a tip here. Hopefully it will tide me over till the 8 pounders become available again.

I set up the new powder charge weighing system today with the GemPro. Then proceeded to crank out 100 rounds start to finish. Thought I'd include a couple pics of the new setup and the fruits of my labor

What is that trickeler you have ?

It's the Omega trickler. It was recommended by the folks here and is an awesome addition.

Made a dummy with this Speer 33gr HP for the TCM. Seems like it should work good. Now to figure out a safe starting point.
