I am in the process of moving, I have found a bunch of stuff, but I forgot I even had. A couple of 50 caliber ammo cans with primers would be an example. I’m guessing they have been in there for 10 years, maybe 15? They have been in my garage, which is not climate controlled, but waterproof, etc. attached to the house.

Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. It's in their wiring. They should not be released back into the general public. On the other hand they should not be warehoused either. I think they should be executed.....Spectre

Factory packaging inside the ammo can? Or loose?

Can’t tell the particulars from here. If they look ok, I would load them, use em up. You could start with range or plinking loads, see that they go bang as expected.

I’ve used older powder, stored in less than favorable conditions. For the most part this older powder has been fine.

You could always test them out like we did when we were kids. A ball-peen hammer out on the sidewalk. Big Grin

That’s where all mine have been stored for decades, in my damp moldy basement. Most of the cans have a little desiccant in them (though it’s probably long since saturated)

Just a thought.

If you were trying to make a bomb, how would you proceed?

I would find a different storage container. One-inch plywood with a blast panel would be a better choice.

Good luck.

They will, more than likely, be just fine.

I would expect them to work just fine... Primers Are very stable (except for the "green" lead free versions.

Some years ago I shot some Remington 45 Auto ammunition with a 1916 head stamp that shot as well as any any new ammo.

The only draw back to old primers is they will be chlorate based and thus corrosive.
