My Olllld waterproof fanny pack was deteriorated beyond use, hence my initial post.

Ended up just sticking the J frame and Speed Strip in my Dry Bag and strapping it on the back of the day rental 'yak.

Wonderful day. Shoulders were sore for 72 hours.

I wouldn't. If I need it and don't have it. Its god's will lol.

If wew were camping and there were bears I would bring my glock 20 and wear it when out of the water

This should work pretty well.

Maybe something like the Safepacker from Wilderness Tactical. It doesn’t look like a holster, just another piece of gear. It can be looped into the straps of your PFF, pack or whatever else you may have with you.

When kayaking, I carry a small pistol, Kimber 6s in one ziploc bag with with a couple reloads in another ziploc bag in a fanny pack. Worse case scenario, I can shoot revolver while in ziploc bag. I love the Hill People Chest Rig but don't like it on top or underneath chest flotation. For me, getting a great fitting chest flotation is must when kayaking. If not, most of your time kayaking will be fighting with the chest flotation.
