I just sat there while his golf cart blocked me from going forward.

try reverse. for that matter, I'd plow through a golf cart if I had to before I shot someone.

Reach through my open window and it would have gone to red.

roll up the window

True on both statements but hitting him with my car would have probably pushed it over the edge. It would have only been the golf cart but that would have every camper there after me probably. I wouldn't have made it to the front gate.
Really didn't think about rolling up the window as it was a little warmer.
I could possibly see me rolling up the window and that further irritating him.
A bunch of thoughts were going through my head as I sat there.

I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I'm not.

Your area of Ohio only differs from my old hometown of Dayton due to Dayton still having some large employers Like WSU, UD and WPAFB.
When GM closed the truck plant the area took a big step backward.

The OP's first description is exactly why I don't go to any concerts, festivals or any big public event. Bars at night are out too (alcohol).

At 70 years and not in the best of shape physically I'm not taking an ass-whipping nor itching to shoot an assailant. If backed into a corner I'd have no choice. Staying home isn't always a thrill, but I'm in control here.
