Red Clay Gourmet

Wife and I were at a cider place in the mountains last weekend (Molley Chomper in Lansing NC) and they dont server food but have these Red Clay Gourmet brand pimento cheese snacks.

I had the jalapeño and wife had regular cheddar and both were amazing. We also found some locally at Whole Foods (Sriracha!) back home.

I know theres a lot of pimento cheese fans here so I wanted to make sure I got the word out!

And the cider at Molley Chomper was also incredible! Just stop at the pizza place around the corner first (Pie on the Mountain) if you want to eat and drink.

Yeah Whole (Paycheck) Foods had it and the site listed Earth Fare but all the ones near me went Tango Uniform. And Kroger, which aren't in NC but maybe Harris Teeter.

I have never heard of pimento cheese until I was at a Friend’s pool party this past summer. Or, I never paid attention to it before. They had me try the Palmetto brand. Damn that stuff is good. Is this stuff more of a southern snacking tradition?

All I know it is like frickin’ crack!!!!!!

I love pimento cheese spread on crackers. Gosh, I've been eating it since I was a kid. I've tried homemade stuff and other brands but I always go back to Kraft.

Thanks for the tip. There are Whole Foods and Kroger stores near me. I’ll look for Red Clay Gourmet pimento cheese there.

When I was a kid, my mother often put pimento cheese sandwiches in my lunchbox – I loved ’em.

Serious about crackers

Husband and I love pimento cheese, so I'll keep an eye out for Red Clay Gourmet. Thanks for the tip!

We like Molley Chomper's, too. And we always stop in W. Jefferson and get some Ashe County cheese and some honey butter from the Honey Hole.

I make my own. It's not hard and you get to pick the cheese.

8oz Grated top-quality aged Cheddar.
1 dollop of room temp cream cheese
1 dollop of Duke's mayo
1 jar of drained pimentos
Pablano pepper chopped to match the pimentos in size and volume
garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne powder, salt, pepper, to taste

Adjust all ingredients to desired consistency and taste.

This.

And jeez can I suggest, enough times the issue of pimento cheese spread comes up in threads:

1) a warning not to view when hungry, and
2) a sticky thread?

And you get to pick out what to leave out! I don't really care for pimentos so I leave them out (or put in just a few) when I make it. Yeah, I know, it's not pimento cheese, it's just grated cheese, mayo, and tiny pieces of random veggies. Big Grin

I love a good pimento cheese...my late wife made a dang good one using what she learned from her dad growing up (she also made an awesome Brunswick Stew using his recipe)...the only one that I have ran across that I really like is Palmetto Cheese out of Pawleys Island SC...
I’m going to keep an eye out for the Red Clay Gourmet...thanks for the heads up Jimbo Smile...
Edit: I would bet the farm Harris Teeter has it...that is by far the best grocery store I’ve ever been in!
