GraniteguyTwilight of the Gods
Spending part of Fathers Day re-reading a great WW2 Pacific documentary called Twilight of the Gods by Ian Toll. Details the last 2 years of the War in the Pacific with a focus on the key Admirals commanding the 3rd/5th Fleets (Halsey & Spruance) and as well as MacArthur. The technological advancements the US made in naval warfare from 1942-1945 are absolutely amazing.

Citadel" Last stand of the Tin Can Sailors" is a personal favorite of mine by James D. Hornfischer. He also did "The Fleet at Flood Tide" and Neptune's Inferno about the Naval Portion of the Guadalcanal Campaign. Hornfischer unfortunately passed here not too long ago.

Expert308I have all three books in that series by Ian Toll (Twilight of the Gods is the final one). They contain an incredible amount of detail and take a long time to get through, but it was well worth it.
