It seems to be getting worse the past few years. It's tough to understand what he's saying at times.

This is when I’m glad my wife got me used to subtitles. I find him nearly incomprehensible at times.

To the point I also can’t imagine she will be anything but a liability going forward.

I have to think there's more to her backstory that will unnecessarily (artificially?) complicate things.

Jeff has had COVID and underground treatment for lymphoma over the last couple years, possibly these have affected his voice.

Did not I know that. He’s still a very enjoyable to watch actor. And I’d still put her in a hole. Lol

There always has to be a love interest. I get if from a viewer interest stand point, but sometime it seems forced. Give this women 1/2 of your cash for what? I didn't like that story line although I guess to please the womenfolk watching she's got to have some power.

Or he needs her for some activities he can't do or expose himself to complete, such as getting the guy to do the stock purchase. He would have had to physically threaten the guy, she does it differently and achieves the goal.

I noticed a change in his pronunciation back when he made Tron: Legacy

He seemed to control it pretty well in Hell or High Water

Pretty gripping episode, though not without some obvious attempts at audience deception that fell short.

Season Finale sort of a half-assed cliff hanger. If it gets a second season, I'll watch to see if he gets his dogs back.

Watched the finale last night. Wife says I will have to watch next season alone, unless Jeff speaks more clearly, OR I get a hearing aid. Wut, Wut, Wut, ???

Did Jeff lose a substantial amount of weight from Hell or High Water, or was he wearing padding in that movie? He looks pretty fit in OldMan. Maybe the WuFlu is a good diet. Only thing I lost was my hearing in my left ear. Wut???

Ive read quite a few Thomas Perry books. He is ok for light reading, but not great. The Old Man is probably one of his better books, as far as story and character development. Other than the first part of the first episode, the remainder of the series follows absolutely nothing in the book. The screen writers could have written it all, without buying the rights to a book they ignored. I guess tying tin cans to a string, and owning dogs, was too good of an idea to pass up.

Talky to a fault and there's something missing in the scenes with Bridges and Lithgow together.

I thought the acting was excellent but the story was nonsensical, and my wife and I could spot the two twists (midpoint and season finale episode) a mile away.

The season finale was also disappointing in terms of how things were wrapped up -- or not. It's hard to imagine where this can go during a second season but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Since my audio gear us just TV speakers at this point, I always have Closed Captions turned on which is great until they get into a quick verbal exchange. If I watch on my computer in my little office, I use my iPod pros and turn on noise cancelation and I can clearly hear and understand most all spoken word. I've not seen the last episode, so this is schedule for tonight or tomorrow night.

I enjoyed it, it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either.

I felt cheated by the ending. The way the Sopranos ended made sense. This was bullshit. Jeff is showing his age and past medical issues. Wish I had not watched the series. I got really tired of the flashback story telling. It just added confusion to the story. It is as if the director discovered a new toy and could not stop playing with it.

This is like a grim, violent "Three Men and a Baby".

It is simpler than that. This isn't enlightened. They are writing to keep women interested. You usually need a love or personal interest to keep many women interested in what would otherwise be a shoot-em-up international intrigue thriller.

You can't alienate half your audience by killing her.

This show has better than average actors in Lithgow and Bridges, but the plot and writing is only a little better than average. It isn't great TV, even though I kind of like it.

I enjoyed the series quite a bit. I do admit that the plot twist was broadcast from the third episode forward.
