Huh. Looks like it might be worth checking out. I have friends that really enjoyed it as well.

Great show...With some great seasons.

It waned a bit at the end...it was time to end the series.

Great series done with a lot of attention to detail as to the culture of that time period. I recently rewatched the entire series and still found it very enjoyable.

This was about my favorite all-time show. Well written and well acted. Every place I worked, we had a nitwit guy like that.

It reminds me of a cartoon I saw once in a business magazine showing two guys, facing each other, dressed in suits. Each had his dick in hand and was pissing on the other guy. The caption was "What business men do to business men."

I've been meaning to give this one a shot.
Anyone know what streaming service it's available on?

I just recently watched it. Great writing for sure. As mentioned it started to drag a little in the later seasons and there are a few episodes that were very boring but overall it was a great series, especially the first couple seasons.

It on Amazon for purchase, or IMDB TV (available through Amazon) for free but with some commercials.

Mad Men is an all time favorite for sure. Don Draper is an amazingly well conceived character who I don't think could have possible been portrayed by a more perfect actor.

One of my favorite scenes of many, so many classic lines in this one:

Fantastic tv, especially if you're familiar with the '60's.

If the series seemed to lose it's way toward the end, well so did Don and that's the point, no? With that accepted, all comes together at the end, the best series finish ever, acceptance and redemption! FWIW it could just as easily led to Mad Men 2 -- 1970's. Glad it didn't, not sure at all Don would have made it to 1980 but there could have been a whole new world we never saw.

I was really getting into it last year when another provider bought it....Hulu I think and I didn't want to spring for another service.

The wife and I were watching it on Netflix and made it just into Season 2 before it was pulled from there. Liked it so much and wanted to watch the series I went ahead and purchased the DVDs on ebay. Used, inexpensive but they worked and we enjoyed finishing the entire 7 seasons.

I wonder if those casting this show got the idea of using Robert Morse because of his role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I always took Morse for granted because of lightweight roles like that, until, that is, I saw him in the outrageous black comedy The Loved One. If you haven't seen that film, you are missing out.

We enjoyed it so much we started over. Got three seasons in before it went off Netflix. I looked at ebay at that time and the prices were kinda high, I guess because there were no more free options. This thread led me to checking again, prices are down and reasonable, ordered. Smile

It's a fantastic show. Definitely worth watching, Para. It's well-written, the characters are compelling, and it stands out to me in that they didn't sacrifice (at least as far as I could tell) historical accuracy for political correctness.

I really enjoyed it, but I doubt I could sit through all of it again. It's been almost ten years since I quit smoking, and I haven't had any cravings or dreams about smoking except when I watched Mad Men. Everyone smokes, all the time. Again, historical accuracy.

I enjoyed it. They did a great job paying attention to the details of design, architecture, clothing, cars etc of the 50s and 60s.

I loved it. Some episodes and arcs are better than others, but overall...

One of my favorites as well. It took me a while (years) to get through the whole series, but I finished it. This thread makes me want to watch it again! I have it on DVD, but watched the last few seasons on netflix when it was available. Highly recommended.

Some of the smartest writing on the small screen. Glad you discovered it. The scene in "The Carousel" episode is magnificent, and I'll always think about it as a perfect example of how good TV can be if it doesn't play to the lowest common denominator.

I tend to get too involved with the characters, which I did with MM.

I found the main guys philandering and drunkenness took away from the show. I felt sorry for his wife and kids. I know;
it's fantasy. I'm just weird.

John Hamm really made the Show. So many rich characters and story lines.

FN, I’m with you. Of course the point is supposed to make you see the depravity of it yet still fantasize about it, right?
Kinda sick.
Really really well done, but kinda sick.
But I guess that’s what most of Hollywood stuff is.
