Bob Barker passes; long time game show host
Age 99. Thought he had gone on several years ago.

ETA; was reminded by a couple of posts of the impact of his shows. My parents (both now gone) in their later years had to watch two shows above all else; "Wheel of Fortune" and "The Price Is Right". When staying with them and making lunch to help them out, that had to wait until noon. They ate before 6:00 p.m. so the dishes, etc. were done in time for Pat and Vanna.

I'm sure the Japanese whalers think so, but I'm not sure that's entirely true. SS mostly works with governments to interdict illegal activities. That's not really terrorism.

That’s your only takeaway from this guy’s long and illustrious career, a household name?

SMDH Roll Eyes

My little boys aged 6 and 8 LOVE the old retro episodes of Price Is Right from the 70’s and 80’s on the Roku. The prices are sometimes surprising like basic ceiling fans were hundreds of dollars back then, also fun to watch these jiggly ladies run down the aisle. Big Grin

He was a big supporter of the PETA wackos that want to tell me what to eat and what wear while protesting in their leather boots. He was just another hollywood hypocrite

Perhaps because they were USA made Hunter cast iron lifetime fans, not the disposable Chinese shit like available today.

Jesus Dude.

So he loved animals to the point of not wanting them slaughtered to extinction…

Man, Bob Barker was a huge part of my childhood. He helped me through countless sick days as a kid, he had his Barker’s Beauties stable of women and he appeared in one of my favorite movies ever.

Rest well Bob Barker, you had a good run and from all accounts, a fantastic life.

Pee-wee and now Bob. So many childhood icons moving on down the line. Staying home from school watching Regis, and then watching Bob on The Price is Right. He has a good run though, 99 ain’t bad.

Years ago when I worked for Disney, in our break room no matter what was on TV, at 11:00 the Price is Right was turned on.

To this day I still couldn't figure out where they came up with some of the prices.
Rest in peace Bob.

Not mentioned yet, but it deserves to be. Bob Barker enlisted in the Navy as a commissioned officer in 1942, but remained at Drury College (at the Navy’s request) to finish his education. He reported for active duty in June of 1943 after finishing school and he immediately began training to be a Naval aviator. He would spend the next 18 months flying a variety of aircrafts all over the country. The war ended as he was about to be deployed to the Pacific. But bottom line is that he stood up and volunteered to serve his country.

I share the sentiment above - Rest well Bob Barker, you had a good run and from all accounts, a fantastic life.

With your help, I just got that now.

I was going to say, for his sake, I hope the first words he heard after dying weren’t “Bob Barker, come on down!”

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Betty White. Wasn’t she a week shy of 100 when she passed?

It's a reference to the Price is Right and their bidding games.
