mttaylor1066Pressure - the movie
I don’t think a previous thread has mentioned this movie.
The wife and I saw it this week. The story centers on the chief meteorologist for the D Day invasion. Would have loved to be in that pitch meeting. “You want us to commit $50 million dollars to a movie about weathermen talking about the weather?”
It was entertaining enough, competent actors, sometimes good character development but also standard Hollywood pacing and plotting that you can see coming from a mile off…
The wife really wanted to see it as she assumed they would feature the Blacksod Lighthouse near our part of Ireland… they mentioned it but never showed it. However, they did mention Maureen Sweeney by name, a local resident observing the weather at the time. She was the crucial part of the D Day forecast.
That was very nice of the writers and director to call her out by name… I believe she died in 2023, though. 100 years old. Fair play to her! (As they say in Ireland.)
Worth the price of admission but not a classic by any means.
