I realize this isn't a revelation to the community here, but I felt like reviving the love for this movie and sequence.
Michael Mann is a national treasure, and this, IMO, is at the top of the heap for film climax. The score, the (lack of) dialogue, the cinematography, all of it.
Wes Studi is fucking exceptional, Daniel Day Lewis is...well, Daniel Day Lewis.
Somehow I always get something in my eye after Uncas runs off to save Alice.

The movie was great, but as a James Fenimore Cooper fan, it’s one I can’t watch often. Like any of the more recent Clancy/Jack Ryan films - using the title and character names with little resemblance to the actual story otherwise.
But that was a great scene.
