All Creatures Great and Small, British TV Series
I did a search both here and in the Lounge to see if there was a thread about this great show, based on the James Herriot books. This show is now in its 6th season, which makes it all the more surprising that there’s never been a discussion of it. It’s shown on PBS, and I just think it’s consistently good.

I prefer the original show from the 1970's. That series more accurately adheres to the books and the acting is, my opinion, more genuine - especially in the area of local characters.

I have watched all episodes of both series.
Really liked the original series and it took a year or two for the new one to grow on me I am really enjoying it very much.

I have all the first series on DVD and the first two or three years of the second.

The British put out some really good series that I enjoy. Some I don’t.

I haven't seen the show (either of them), but I read his first two or three semi-fictionalized memoir books several years back and enjoyed them. Nice light reading, and an interesting look inside both early-to-mid 20th century veterinary practices as well as rural British life. Fairly funny at times too.

My wife and her mother are avid watchers of this, they love it. I've watched a few episodes too.

I only found out recently that it's a remake of an earlier 1980's era series starring none other than Doctor Who's Peter Davison!

My parents watched the original series religiously.

Wonder if the original series is still available to stream anywhere?

The first book I ever read cover to cover (Watership Down was the second). Might have to check this out.

I remember watching that show when I was quite young. I had no idea there was a new one.
