I enjoyed the show. Some of it was just because it shows Times Square and that area pre-Guiliani, which is the way it is in my mind. I remember thinking how seedy and dirty it was in that neighborhood when I was ten years old.

But it is also a well done show. Good writing, and some good performances.

I stopped watching it (schedule related and I did not take the time to pull up on hbogo) after they opened the bordello, and Maggie G's character was doing more in porn,

will have to catch up,

I enjoyed the series. The characters are complex and complicated. It demonstrates quite well that many street people do not fit the stereotype we expect. Good humor at unexpected times.

It's officially back Para.

Lots of T&A with a little murder mixed in for the season opener.

This fell off my radar before I ever started season 1. Thanks for the reminder. I just finished season 2 of Ozark and am ready to start watching another series.

Season 3 is the final season and begins September 9th.

First season was what, 1971/72? Second season was 1977. This season will be 1985.

Did anyone else here watch the complete series? The last few episodes were quite sad. The epilogue of the final episode was creative and well done. I'm gonna go back and watch the first season again.

I learned some things from this series- things about the evolution of the pornography industry and things about the history of my country. I have to say that the time I've invested in the series was worth it.

Yes. David Simon so it was well done. Remember the times when AIDS was rampant, Ed Koch, NYC politics and Times Square. The last scene could make any grown man cry. Walking into the arms of time said the man at the diner. Tie in with The Wire was clever. Never lived in the Big Apple but that does not matter. Need more stuff like this.

I never watched The Wire so I am unaware of the tie-in.

Black Frankie, now known as Frank leaves for Baltimore where the story for THE Wire begins.

The scene was in the last or next to last episode where one of the characters is saying goodbye to Black Frankie as he heads off to Maryland.

Oh, that's why he was so specific about where he was going.

If you like the Deuce I think you would certainly enjoy The Wire, in my opinion.

The Wire is one of the all time great series IMO.

If you have the time, I'd highly recommend watching "The Wire". Even with the producer (David Simon's) left leaning ideals, this is unquestionably the best crime series ever. It doesn't disappoint either in good dramatic flavor or being a study of the conflicts within the criminal justice system/social contract in general.

There's lots of players in this series and sometimes they are difficult to keep track of, but the effort is certainly worth it. You'll hate some, love some, and love to hate others, but these characters are thoroughly believable as human beings. Some of the best scenes involve nuances that require repeated viewings. If you like details that flesh out what's going on and give sly hints at future events, then this is the series for you. If the viewer is looking for clear answers to complex problems or lots of action on every episode, he/she is going to be disappointed. I don't consider myself too soft, but certain scenes actually brought me to tears. The story (each season looks at different aspects of the Baltimore social structure and how crime is intertwined with it), is wonderful. It couldn't be presented better in a shorter format and ended at just the right time, in just the right way.

I always tell people that ask me about police work what movie or TV program I'd suggest they watch to really capture what happens "on the street", that "The Wire" is to crime what "Band of Brothers" is to war.

I watched the pilot last night and plan on continuing. Pretty interesting look at a time that I was too young (born in 1970) to comprehend.
