I'm a big fan of both! I saw PF at Madison Square garden, but was too young to see the Beatles

never been a yuge fan of either,

the Beatles are OK, and they influenced a few bands I do like,

I've never really cared for any of Lennon's stuff but do like Wings and Harrison's work, for the most part,


Pink Floyd was big when I was in high school, (The Wall) and are good,
I've learned to appreciate them more over the years,

Gilmore helped out on of my Favorites a lot early in her career, he played on a few Kate Bush albums

Saw Pink Floyd in '73 and '75 at the Olympia in Detroit.

Never saw the Beatles, but did catch George around the same time, also at the Olympia.

If you ever have a chance to see the tribute band 'Brit Floyd' I highly highly recommend it. I see them every year and they are fantastic and put on a good show for the crowd. Very good group. Play the old/new/popular songs.etc. You really can't tell they are not the original Pink Floyd.

I think the Beatles are the most over rated band in history. They weren't bad, but they weren't near as good as they're made out to be.

Just last month we saw a tribute band (Windborne’s Pink Floyd) together with the Omaha Symphony. The musicians were great, the frontman, an androgynous guy with thoroughly mediocre vocals ruined the show. I will add, the tribute band had a female vocalist who was apparently a very recent addition, she absolutely nailed Clare Torrey’s perf in “Great Gig in the Sky.”

I was lucky enough to actually see Pink Floyd touring DSOM. Fantastic

I’m too young to have seen either in person.

The Beatles are good, but I’m choosy as to which songs of theirs that I like. Not my favorite band by a long shot, but I can respect the immense influence they had on music as a whole.

Pink Floyd, on the other hand, is one of my all-time favorites. I was raised on classic rock (thanks, Dad!), and PF always had my attention from the get-go. Truly one of the greats, as far as I’m concerned.

You could not be more wrong. Dead wrong.
Set aside whether the music or not is your cup of tea but the fact is the Beatles are the most influential band in history let alone in Rock history.
Immensely talented and the timing of their arrival make them the most important in history.
Yet personally for me I like them but not my most favorite but you cannot deny their importance and place in history.
It's just a fact.

I acknowledge their brilliance and innovativeness, but I've never been a fan. Overrated might not be appropriate...more like excessively glorified. IMHO. That is all.

Nope. The Beatles were more than their music. They were about a culture that changed the world. I was 14 when the Beatles came on Ed Sullivan for the first time. I distinctly remember laying on the floor and watching them with amazement. I started combing my hair down instead of up and bought a second hand guitar and a pair of black boots - just like a lot of kids did. Maybe a year later, I put a band together and started making some money.

The evolution of their music was just amazing going from 'She Loves You' to the White Album in 1968. What other act made this kind of transformation in 4 short years. In comparison, I like both the Eagles and Chicago but their later work wasn't much different than their early work. Just my opinion.
