Dune: Part 3 Trailer

Sucks that I have to work the weekend it comes out. I also don't know how long it will stay in IMAX since Avengers: Doomsday also comes out around the same time, but it does look like a Dune movie where Zendaya might not be the worst thing about it.

It will be a must own for me. I saw Duncan Idaho in the trailer, thought he got killed in part one.

In later Dune books, Duncan Idaho is resurrected/replicated by Paul… with ultimate regrets. IIRC.

This may explain his appearance in this movie.

Looks good. It will be one of the 1 or 2 movies that will actually get me into a movie theater this year. The cinematography of the desert scenes is worthy of the big screen.

God Emperor Leto Atredies was the one who constantly cloned Duncan Idaho to test out his private "security." Without spoiling too much, this Duncan is a Ghola (a clone) that was given to Paul as a gift from the Bene Tleilaxu who are introduced in Dune Messiah and represented by Robert Pattinson. Any more will lead to spoilers.

I am simply excited that this material is getting shared with a wider audience. There is a lot of nuance that will be missed by many. Frank Herbert definitely was a master.

Yes please - I'm ready.

This will be at least one I will catch in the theater for the year.

Cheers~

I’ll give it a shot. I really liked what they did with the first two movies with the exceptions of almost completely writing out Thufir and the massive changes to Chani. Visually it was epic.

Dune is one of my favorite novels of all time. I re read it every year or so. I’ve never really been a fan of the rarest of the series though. Dune Messiah I especially disliked when I first read it in high school. Maybe I should go back and give the rest of the series a read read and see how my opinions have changed.

The Frank Herbert ones. The books his son wrote were hot garbage.

I'd stop at Children of Dune. God Emperor of Dune is basically Frank Herbert yelling at clouds like an old man, and the last 2 (Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune) had potential but turned into the comic book version of, "If you thought these people were bad, wait until you see these folks!" for two books. It got finished by Kevin J. Anderson (if you read any of his other books then Brian Herbert was name only), but only in a way that disrespects the heroes of the new books.
