I can't imagine having a brain large enough to hold all of the information it would take do achieve this, not only what tools to use in what order , but how to use each and every tool in the way it was intended , and to maintain the tools in the correct way to achieve the end result.This message has been edited. Yes, check out the Gamble House in L.A., an arts and crafts style home for the Gamble of Proctor and Gamble. The house is mostly teak with pegged joinery, almost no metal fasteners to my knowledge. I remember seeing Norm Abram of "This Old House" do a tour of it years ago, focusing particularly on the exterior and stair case.
I can't find that vid, there are a bunch of others. Here's a short one to give a taste. If nothing else is right about L.A., there's the Gamble House.

Yup, he's got some nice equipment which surely helps, but the important stuff was done with hand tools, skill and patience.
I'd be shickled titless if I could just manage to get an edge on a chisel like his.

Greene & Greene (architects) were masters and they had a pair of brothers (Hall?) that built for them. One was the builder and one ran a mill and milled all of the specialty designs. Really incredible work.
