How I spent my Spring vacation: reading science fiction
I'll put in a plug of James P. Hogan's "Operation Proteus". Americans, NAZIs, and time travel--great fun.
And, of course, Robert A. Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" (forget about the movie--it was crap, even if it did have the biggest muzzle flash count).

The Time Wars series by Simon Hawke was a lot of fun.
Follows a group of Time Commandos who travel back to try to stop time terrorists looking to split the time stream. Lots of history and fighting.
Looks like they may be free to read if you are an Amazon Kindle Unlimited subscriber as well.

Try William Gibson's Neuromancer (1984) for a change of pace. Iain Banks is another author you might try. I first read Use of Weapons, but his other books are excellent as well.

if you want some Sci Fi, with a lot of English Humor,
and a relatively quick read,
the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series is mighty fine,
the Dirk Gently series not bad, (the TV show is ok as well, but really odd)

Sorry, the Hogan Book I mentioned is actually called "The Proteus Operation". Still a good read.
