Just watched the Mongolian episode.......John is BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hampster and May did a great job on it; other than the sterring wheel issue at beginning and blowing a fuse, it didn't break down once. I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!
That trip looked harder on them than the North Pole trip.

Other than the TG Bolivian episode, the Mongolia adventure ranks second supplanting the Botswana episode. This was by far the best TGT episode, even going so far to break the fourth wall.
Full spec of the self-assembly car; Land Rover 300 TDi engine, Land Rover R380 manual gearbox, Land Rover LT230 transfer box with permanent four-wheel-drive and high/low range, bespoke ladder frame chassis, and leaf spring suspension.

So that’s it for the show as it has been all these years? They’re tired of just driving and talking about cars. There will be specials because they still haven’t seen every place in the world. I’m surprised it took only three seasons of The Grand Tour, and apparently it’s their call.

Mongolia show was good, the Johnny Truck/Car/Thing was pretty cool, a first for them a vehicle that worked without too much of an issue.
I'll miss the track and banter of chat, on Conversation Street, but the tours are what most folks seem to like.
Imagine its pretty difficult to keep up the schedule and be creative.
they've been doing the show for 17 years - thats a pretty good run in anyone's books
I like the idea of the tours - they seem to excel at that with the adventures and the photography

Was touching that Clarkson, the ever cynical smart-alec, got choked-up and had to take a few breaths to compose himself.
While the travel episodes are the most desired and enjoyable, I wonder if there was something more to it. Like Clarkson actually enjoys and looks forward to a studio audience, and now with this end, it's a new paradigm for him. The weekly push to complete episodes was what drove him and now, that will no longer be.

I think that doing the tent was a very expensive proposition - and if I recall it was being done on his property
as much as I like the banter, the travel segments are what makes the show

The tent was expensive and provided some significant production challenges. It's not a soundstage so a lot of segments had to be shot several times due to noise like overflying aircraft, traffic, etc.
The thing I will really miss about the new format will be losing the historical segments. Things like when they told the story of the Ford-Ferrari rivalry at LeMans in the 60's, the career of Jim Clark, the Audi-Lancia battle in rally car racing, the cars of the NASA astronauts, etc.
