The series from the 1930s is playing on TCM. It was a staple of my youth and is still entertaining. The props are obviously fake and the spaceships are something else. Ming the Merciless and other villains battle Flash and the gang.

They usually run serials at 9am on Saturday. Before this they did a Buck Rogers serial (also starring Buster Crabbe). They also had an old Batman serial on before.

I remember rushing home from school in the early 1950s to watch it. It was a major disaster if anything made me miss it.
