Something Different - "The Man Who Saved the World" A Documentary
I have known of this story, some of which I always thought was one part myth and one part reality, for most of my adult life. I grew up with Dr. Strangelove and saw it for the first time in the 90's. (Did George Clooney do a live broadcast stage re-telling of Dr. Strangelove) But I had no idea how close we actually come to Nuclear War in 1983. I remember when Korean flight 007 was shot down and we lost Congressman McDonald, I had met him as he once visited our church in Marietta, Georgia. I knew things were tense between our countries.

But this movie tells a very human story, uncomfortably so. As such, I felt it was a beautiful documentary.

Flash-LB
Three months before it was shot down I flew from Tokyo to SFO on the route the Korean plane was supposed to be on before they made a mistake.

Kind of gave me chills when I thought about it.
