Yes.

The thing is that there really are a finite number of ideas for TV shows that will actually work. And yeah, most have been tried. Do you really want another cop show with a cop loosely based on Sherlock Holmes? Or another medical show? Maybe a family sitcom?

The thing about reboots is that they draw a lot of people who were fans of th original. Some won’t stay but some will. And you have to understand that while some writers and actors and such truly care about the art of it in the end money drives everything. Reboots bring in viewers which means money.

There are a lot of original programs out there but I found most of them to be on services like Netflix and Amazon while most TV was repetitive crap that only lasted a season or two. Reason number 109 why I cut the cord over a year ago I suppose.

From the 60’s as well. Let’s not forget they also rebooted Hawaii Five-0 and it’s nothing like the original...

Is the new Magnum supposed to take place in the same time period as the original? That Ferrari is looking pretty dated .

Yes, nobody has anything original or the money people don't want to take a chance or even care except that it gets views and everyone then makes money.

Most of what comes to TV anymore is complete crap, but I was happy to hear that Fox is bringing back Last Man Standing this fall.

Keep in mind that we're now living in an age where just about the entire population of the US not only grew up with a TV in the house, but, must-see TV became a thing. Perry Mason, Dick Van Dick, Brady Bunch, Happy Days, MASH, All in the Family, St.Elsewhere, Hill St.Blues, Miami Vice, Cosby Show, Dynasty, Dallas...it goes on. All of those shows, and many more had a long-lived, solid following where tried-n-true formulas the television networks can easily tap into; why not re-boot a series. I'm not a devout TV watcher, I enjoy variety but, there's definitely a segment of the population that would like enjoy a re-boot of The Dukes of Hazard or, Falcon Crest.

With the maturing of Pay-Cable-Networks and now Internet-based streaming services, screen runners have a wider variety of locations to sell their story's. TV networks are limited by budget, time, content or, language, ergo, if you want new ideas, you're gonna have to pay to watch.
