Wow, tough to name just one. There's been lots of great singers mentioned so far, like Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt.
My current favorite is Rebekka Nilsson of Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra.
But, my all-time favorite is Maria Callas aka "La Divina".

So many good ones listed. My current faves are Nancy Wilson (Not the Nancy of Heart) for older fare and Melody Gardot for newer stuff.

This is challenging for me. I like some singers but not everything they do is good. So it's a struggle to call them 'a favorite' since I don't like all of their works.
Lots of good singers and lots of good works. I do come back to singers like: Julie London, Patricia Barber, Jane Monheit, Kat Edmonson and Blossom Dearie. And many of the artists mentioned above. Kinda depends on mood.

As above, Ronstadt, Carole King, Ann Wilson. Also: Cass Elliott-shame she died so young, her voice was like butter; Beth Nielsen Chapman, and as much as I despise her politics, I love Joan Baez’s voice, particularly Diamonds and Rust. Mahalia Jackson -Troubles of the World makes me cry-she could sure belt it out

I saw Cindy Lauper back in the early 80's when she opened up for Devo. Man did she have a set of pipes on her.
t, my all-time favorite is Maria Callas aka "La Divina".
If we're going in that direction, Roberta Peters was right up there. I was lucky enough to see her first performance as Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute in 1950, at the Met.

There's been a lot of good singers listed. But I saw Tina Turner in concert in '86 and she's been a favorite since then. She made sure everyone got their money's worth.

If no one has mentioned Idina Menzel, she needs to be on this list.
