Lucas Mcaine was left handed
But he put his rifle scabbard on the right side of his horse.

Is that odd?

Rifle scabbards were commonly mounted on the opposite side from your primary hand.

He steers the horse with his left hand? Smile

No odder than:

at the opening, 12 cycles of the lever results in 13 reports from a weapon that does not hold that many

Shooting all the rounds then twirl-cocking when empty

Flip- or twirl-cocking the rifle and nothing happens then a moment later working the lever to fire

and so on.

It's a cross-draw configuration, much like a Samurai sword, which is always worn on the left side (no matter if you're right or left handed).

It's 1881, he has managed to purchase a very early 1892 lever gun, probably a custom made scabbard too Smile.

And a rifle that is exceptionally accurate when rapid fired from the hip. Another left, right thing that doesn't make sense is the loading gate on an 1873 SAA.

Being a lefty long gun shooter, I'd want it slung on the right side to allow a left hand draw and up to my left shoulder. Oddly, I'm a right hand pistol shooter and right eye dominant.

He does not use his left hand to pull out the rifle as
The
Scabbard mouth is on the right rear hip of the horse.
