Either within the left or right taillight assemblies (similar to a '57 Chevy BelAir) or behind the license plate.

The '56 had the same setup and it was funny/frustrating to see a gas station guy nearly rip my license plate off thinking it was behind the plate. They'd apologize and I'd point out that they were an idiot... because the plate was mounted on the rear middle of the trunk. Roll Eyes

I too had fun with that at gas stops, when I was driving the Continental Mk II.
