The Curse of Oak Island

kkinaThe Curse of Oak Island
I'm personally glad the brothers are in for season 6, although at this point I'm really wondering if they'll find anything significant. I have high hopes for the seismic mapping, since up to now it's just been guess marks the spot as to where to drill. The preview for next week does seem to show some kind of large chamber, and them dredging up wood.
Even bigger for me is the new coffer dam, as those tunnel booby traps are really pissing me off. If they can finally seal them off, they can get to the bottom of things once and for all.
Oh, and they did find gold, albeit a tiny bit.

YooperSigsThey are Yoopers digging holes. In Canada. I have been watching but the question for me is: How much has all this cost so far?

urbanwarrior238I do not watch this program but see the advertisements and the programing info. I believe they are looking for some long ago buried treasure but I could be wrong. They seem to have all kinds of high tech equipment but still can't find the treasure. Is it possible that the ancient people who buried this treasure had MORE technology way back then that they can stump the current techno diggers? Just not for me. Seems a wild goose chase for ratings.

RichNIt seems to me they already found the treasure they were looking for: A bunch of viewers.

enidpd804They know there have been a lot of things found on the island over the centuries. The story of Samuel Ball is especially interesting along those lines.
This is mostly a story of a younger (rich) brother making his big (dreamer) brother's dream come true. They've found some undeniably interesting things and will probably continue to do so, but probably not caches of treasure. I enjoy watching for the history, the metal detector finds and the friends/family aspect.

molachiI think that they will find something significant eventually. But the cost has got to be staggering.

nhtagmemberborn and raised in Nova Scotia not too far from Oak Island
I think its sort of cool this is being done - I get the idea of how did some group of people using 16th century technology bury a treasure that cant be located by 21st century technology
but I see it as being a win for the local economy in increased tourism and all the money being spent, is being spent there, not in China, not in SW Asia
I see it as a good thing, no matter the result
I have a good friend who lives in Idaho that was a reference and resource for a book on Oak Island

YooperSigsThe history aspect with Samuel Ball and James Anderson seems plausible to me. The Knights Templar line of thought seems.... Farfetched.
I hope they do more research on Ball and Anderson. Anderson seems like a real piece of work.

PeteFMy neighbors 7 yo son loves this show. So much so that he has a 5 ft hole in the backyard.
Was it wrong that one night I threw some foreign coins into the hole. He found them and brought them to his dad.
Dads expression was priceless.

GustoferThe entire several seasons of the show could be compressed into about a 20 minute program.
It is nothing more than a revenue generator and they will find nothing of significance.
