SigSACThe Brokenwood Mysteries
A couple of other threads got me thinking. I've liked a lot of British police procedurals - especially since many of them show landscapes missing in most domestic shows.
I saw this one on my local PBS station - so far, I've seen the last episode of season 1 and the first episode of season 2.
The kicker? This one ISN'T British - it takes place in New Zealand. While the series is contemporary, the main character drives a Holden from the early 1970's. His two main co-workers are good in their parts.
BTW, the last episode in season one talks about hunting rifles. None of the UK fear of guns - they just ask to see that the person has the proper storage for them!
So far, I'm liking it. I might see if PBS Passport will let me see the earlier episodes. If not, I'll see if they are available on DVD.

sjtillWife and I like Brokenwood a lot. It features, of course, quirky local characters and unique means of murder. But it’s not woke, it’s not dark, it’s pretty funny. OF COURSE there are gay characters, but they don’t make a big deal of it.
I do think the stories got silly in later seasons; but we’re eagerly awaiting the new season.
