I was once in love with a Mexican girl, and truer words were never sung!

The final episode of Breaking Bad was titled "Felina". When I saw that watching it the first time, I knew where the story was going. Him pulling the tape case out and it coming on the car stereo were a wonderful touch, like a private wink to Marty Robbins fans.
The last #1 song on the 50's and first #1 song of the 60's.

Dad was career Army, retiring when I was 11.
My concept of a "long car ride" was shaped by cross-country drives when he PCSed. Riding with Dad was defined by hours and hours of precisely two artists on 8-track or cassette:
- Marty Robbins, mostly the Gunfighter/Cowboy variety; - Johnny Cash.
Hated both at the time.
Love 'em both now.

Had a similar relationship with Don Williams.
I have heard and listened to Marty Robbins Gunfighter ballads and trail songs my whole life. It's probably the only thing I own on vinyl LP, 8-track tape, cassette tape, CD and MP3. A few of them multiple copies.

My friend, who lives there, tells me there is still a Rosa's Cantina in El Paso but also read that the one in the song was inspired by a cantina elsewhere.

My challenge was answered in less than a heartbeat. And Big Iron is a great song too!

As is Ballad of The Alamo. Marty Robbins has always been one of my favorites.

Many people did not know that Marty had a son, Ronnie, who is a singer as well.
Close your eyes and enjoy...

Marty Robbins is thought by many to have had one of the best, if not the best voice in country music.

Thank you! That cover by his son Ronnis was excellent!
Man what I would give to be in a bar listening to either of them singing...
