The Great Lakes White Hurricane-began 109 years ago today.
I am not sure why, but I became fascinated with this storm.

There are a couple of books and a couple of videos about this storm.

I cannot imagine the horror.

Anyone else follow storms on the Great Lakes?

I followed the story of the discovery of the Henry B. Smith, which had just left Marquette when the storm sank her.

Smithsonian Channel has a current series on the Great Lakes. Superior has some interesting wrecks which are in pristine condition due to water clarity and coldness. It talks about how treacherous the Lakes are.

Having grown up (and still living) within 10 miles of Lake Ontario, I've always loved Great Lakes history. I've read about that storm. 35 foot waves is crazy.
